I was checking for my chocolate rum pie recipe for thanksgiving and thought I should post this it. Its odd how when life is good livejournal goes dead.
I took Heather hiking in the Snoqualmie Pass last weekend for our 1 yr dating anniversary and then we went to the Salish Lodge, a fancy spa/lodge at the Snoqulamie Falls (where they filmed Twin Peaks). We got a foot massage after the hike and went to a private table at dinner at their fancy restaurant. THe table was covered in rose pedals and she was trying to decide if we should get the 6 course $120 meal and I said "Maybe this will help you decide..." dropped to one knee and proposed. She shrieked and looked away and gave me her hand and said yes. I was finally able to relax even though I knew it was going to be yes. She was surprised, beleving everything was for our dating anniversary and that I was just nervous from being in a swank place. The ring is a simple platinum setting and her mom gave me her great grandma's pre 1920 1 ct diamon to have set. Which was great since it avoided contributing to the diamond trade. We don't have a date yet, Either this summer or Fall, we're trying to decide. Maui wedding with New Zealand honeymoon means Fall is best but issues with family not being able to make it. |

[May. 20th, 2008|08:01 am] |
I was let go of AMD a day after my birthday, May 15th. There were rumors that cuts were going to happen, and so I was cut. I am sooo happy. I got a nice package and yesterday started my career at Microsoft working as a dev support for the Xbox 360 group. Basically if a developer has issues developing their game and they can't figure it out, they contact my new group and we solve the difficult problems. Its my dream job. I am so happy. I still have a half day of new employee orientation this morning, but get to meet my team again and hopefully get my own office this afternoon.

Yesterday Heather and I picked up pinball #4. Addams Family.
Right now we are taking a break from cleaning my house by watching the end of Kill Bill Vol 2 on tv. Broker comes tomorrow at 4:30 for photos for MLS. They take a 1% cut, 3$ for buyer agent, so total of 4%. +excise +closing costs. So about 5-6% I think.
So hopefully in 3 months, I'll have all 4 pins in a new house. And maybe #5 I am in talks with from Oregon, RollerGames. It's hard to pass up your #4 fav machine for $900, even if you don't have room for it. Give me 3 of my fav 4:
1. Addams Family (own, at Heather's parents) 2. Star Trek: Next Generation (own, at Theo's house) 3. Twilight Zone ($2800+ on ebay) 4. Rollergames (to be aquired) X. Earthshaker X. Tommy
Bleh, such a procrastinator cleaning, going to go make spaghetti and lamb balls. |

| Helsinki + Estonia + Amsterdam |
[Jan. 28th, 2008|03:24 pm] |
Wednesday I leave for Helsinki again. I will be working 6 days there and then have two weekends free. Heather is coming along to enjoy the free hotel and we are going to check out Estonia the first weekend (2 hour ferry from helsinki) and Amsterdam the next weekend (free layover on the way back). Its pretty sweet. And then I will be going to San Francisco next month for GDC and we'll hang out there for the weekend too. 3 vacations for very cheap :)
Heather has been quite the competiotn in games. She has won the last 4 of 6 Puerto Rico games, I took only 1 and a friend took the other one. I am often neutered since I usually always win, but Heather is now the number one rival. We bought travel catan, san juan and catan card game to play while on travel.
She is more moving in when we get back since she is here 6.5 out of 7 days anyway. she wants to pay some bills and help me sell. and bring her coffee machine and tampons... oh joy ren! |

| Maui |
[Jan. 3rd, 2008|03:49 pm] |
So Xmas eve, I flew to Maui and met Heather and stayed with her at her parents' in Maui. It was amazing, from the last minute pull over for some fun before having to behave ourselves in front of the parents to finishing The Time Traveler's Wife on hte plane on the way back, I had a great time.
I have not met anyone's parents since Kristin when we were 22. It was very odd and I felt so adult, we shared our room. And with that door closed I completely forgot they were even in the house, other than us both trying to control our volume.
Heather took me to several beaches, for bodysurfing, snorkeling, and SCUBA diving. She's a fucking fish in the water. I have some great shots of her swimming loops around me snorkeling. Snorkeling reminded me of us rock climbing but the roles were reversed, she was the all knowing one and I was a clueless idiot. (In rock climbing she was just out of practice). She took good care of me. Snorkeling was fun but a little tiring. Suba was amazing, I think I will try to get certified.
We dined with her parents most nights and got along quite well. We taught them Puerto Rico and her dad won a game because I focused too much on her and ignored him too much as a threat.
And for New Year's Eve, we planned to go to town to party but changed it for a Nalgene full of a crappy concoction with vodka and triple sec on the beach. She bought two sleeping bags so we just sat there and talked about life, exlovers, getting married down the road, and eventually made love. When we finished, I fumbled for my phone and saw it read 12:03. So... yeah, brought in the New Year with a bang, on the beach under the stars. With the girl I love. Not too shabby. If only we had towels we could have swam in the ocean afterward...
The next day we made one more trip out to the beach, she went to the airport and later I went on my flight.
An amazing vacation. |
